Paper Submission

Introduction

This year, we are pleased to announce that there will also be the possibility to submit posters. While full papers must have 4 -6 pages, poster summaries must have 2 pages, only. Poster papers can cover preliminary studies, prototype applications, or initial implementations. Poster papers are peer-reviewed in the same way as long papers and are published in the same proceedings as the long papers.

Submission Details

HPC 2012 seeks original, high-quality papers in all areas related to high performance cutting. Each paper should be classifiable as mainly covering research, applications, or systems, using the following guidelines for each.

All submissions (paper and poster submissions) will undergo a two-stage review process. Authors of submissions that are determined to be acceptable with minor revisions during a first review cycle will be invited to submit a revised version. Only these submissions will appear in the conference proceedings.

Poster papers can cover preliminary studies, prototype applications, or initial implementations. Poster papers are peer-reviewed in the same way as full papers and are published in the same proceedings as the long papers.

The primary difference between poster papers and full papers is in the size of their contributions and NOT in the importance/impact of their contributions. To assure this, short and long papers will be treated as separate tracks and will be accepted or rejected according to the merit of their contributions. Rejected long papers will NOT be considered for acceptance as short papers, unless the reviewers unanimously feel this is the right decision, and rewriting is determined to be doable in the time available.

Note that an abstract must be uploaded prior to the papers. This facilitates assigning reviewers, as the review process is on a tight schedule.

All paper submissions must be in English. Full papers must not exceed six (6) pages in length, while poster papers are limited to two (2) pages. Both, full papers and posters papers should be formatted using the given paper template.

HPC 2012 uses a double-blind review process, meaning both the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous to each other. Submissions (including citations and optional videos) should not contain information that unnecessarily identifies the authors, their institutions, or their places of work. Relevant previous work by the authors should be cited in the third person to preserve anonymity. All papers must be submitted electronically.

Paper submissions must not have been published previously. A paper is considered to have been published previously if it has appeared in a peer-reviewed journal, magazine, book, or conference proceedings that are reliably and permanently available afterward in print or electronic form to non-attendees, regardless of the language of that publication. A paper identical or substantially similar in content (in its entirety or in part) to one submitted to HPC 2012 should not be simultaneously under consideration for another conference or journal during the entire HPC 2012 review process (from the submission deadline until notifications of decisions are emailed to authors).

Author instructions

This conference uses a two stage submission, meaning that authors have to submit 400 word abstract prior to the paper or poster. This abstract submission does not require any special formatting and can be entered directly via the submission system.

After a first notification of acceptance, authors are encouraged to submit the full papers (4-6 pages) or poster summaries (2 pages), both following the template given on this page, These submissions will undergo a double-blind review process. After the final notification of acceptance, authors should submit the final submission, integrating the feedback from the reviewers.

Authors should submit the final version of their submission as a Word Document (.doc or .docx), using a suitable compression. Note that the proceedings are printed in b/w, and thus color images are only on the CD proceedings.
